Top 5 Romanian Festivals
I used to say that Romania is always somewhat five years behind the western world of which it wants to make part of so badly. Also I had to admit, that this lag isn't about technology or way of life. We have superfast internet, smartphones with countless cores, many ridiculously overpowered expensive sport cars and a bunch of shopping malls so you won't miss out on Zara's latest collection. The point where Romania falls behind is adopting trends and styles at large. The whole point of throwing this piece of mind at you is because I might think that the Romanian festival scene had proved me right. Somewhere around 2010 Big Room House made its foothold in the music world, its simple but highly energetic sound catapulted by events like Tomorrowland into the minds of the masses. This was also the very point when "electronic music" definitely took over the world of music festivals. Some four years later, namely in 2014 people in Romania really got into making festivals and the number of...

Guts and his Lifelong Dedication to the Drug Called Hip Hop
Many parents worry for their children. They fear for their future carrier, they wish to keep them clear of drugs and they want them to have a good life. The question is, what parents should do to guide their children towards an ideal career? If one's familiar with doublethink giving the right drugs to their offspring might very well be a good idea. The question poses, which drugs should be handed over to the kiddo so it won't do harm and even if it does to a certain degree, it will be a warranty for further creative development. For Guts's mother the question was a no brainer. Music became the drug of choice and the currency to pay for stuff was nothing else but good grades. "I think this is the best drug she gave me" admits Guts. As the time flew by and the record stack grew with each passing minute it was showing much resemblance to what a young black man had in the late 70's somewhere in a rundown apartment of the concrete jungle of the Bronx. "Funk, Bob Marley but the half of it...

Airfield Festival Romania 2015
Things are getting crowded over here and I've got something growing strong in me. That very thing is the feeling that there's no need to go abroad to see the all the artists on my bucket list. Airfield Festival is another addition to the Romanian festival scene that is working hard to make my head spin when trying to recall all the gigs I've been to. Somehow it slipped underneath my radar last year, and quite frankly, I didn't hear anyone speaking about it, maybe I know the wrong people (my mom always told me so). Since the first edition was held in 2014, it seems that the crew had the time to figure out the magic trick, or the money to pay the right agency to do a decent social media campaign, so the wannabe journalist can get another target lock. It feels like the organizers don't have the treasure of Atlantis like the peeps making "Untold Festival" or the enormous army of Booha and Boiler trained professional organizers like "Electric Castle", but they do have some cool stuff up...

Electric Castle 2015 Review
Yes, it was the third edition of Electric Castle Festival, held between 25 – 28th of June on the mighty grounds of the Bontida Castle. I was there for the third time and finally, I think I might just have the required know how to tell you if it was any good. Why do I say that? Well, because the first time I was there in 2013, I had very little expertize about festivals, and also Electric Castle, just like I, was a newbie. In 2013 I wrote a short blogpost about that experience which was no more than an uncontrolled, written outburst of "OMFG, that was bleed - *ukin' – tastic". The second year I have been working more than one should during the event, so I did a brief review about what I've stumbled upon running around plugging in and out tons of wires. Finally, this year turned out to be a bit more relaxed so I almost had the time to check out everything. bleed - *ukin' – tasticJust like in 2013 and in 2014, the vast majority of the festival goers and the attending journalists are...

No Glitch for Romania
The Glitch Mob is the thing right now, taking its foothold on the commercial festival scene. After tweaking glitchy sounds for more than a decade, Edit, Ooah and Borela have found their way to the hearts and ears of the masses. They're playing gigs all over the world, their latest album, "Love Death Immortality", was a huge success, so it is safe to state that The Glitch Mob have made something new that became an instant success. Yet at Electric Castle, Romania's major festival, people at the main stage were leaving an hour into their gig. Why's that strange? Because the place was packed with people both at Parov Stelar and Fatboy Slim, in the pouring rain. During Rudimental every square meter near the main stage was packed so tightly that one couldn't fall over even if drunk as a lord. With Netsky it was the same. So if it wasn't raining and The Glitch Mob was doing a very decent set, then why was it so unpopular? Of course, they were still playing to thousands of people, but...

Electric vs Untold
There was a single major festival called "Peninsula", serving a wide range of audience. As demand for electronic music grew, the lineup followed. By 2013 Peninsula became an electronic music festival, but by then it was clear that it's doomed. The self-proclaimed journalist is happy Luckily the backup came the very same year in the form of a brand new festival called "Electric Castle", shocking the national scene in the best possible way. The medieval castle spiced with classy electronic vibes took the lead, becoming THE major festival in Romania. Now it's 2015 and we got another newbie knocking on the door of the festival goers. "Untold Festival" is in the ring, already flexing its muscles for the festival showdown. The self-proclaimed journalist is happy because it's show time in many ways. It's show-time partly because both events have internationally recognized headliners, partly because there will be two big festivals in a town that barely has 500.000 residents and partly...

Electric Castle Festival:
Yes, you're not mistaken, that is the birthplace of the mighty Dracula. Dracula is a cool guy, so now he's into festivals and what else should suit him better than Electric Castle. The Electric Castle festival got its name for a very good reason. It is situated in an old castle located at a small village called Bonţida in the North-Western part of Romania. Regardless of that is easy to get there since the castle is only a 30 minutes' drive away from Cluj which is an Eastern-European youth's paradise. Dracula is feeling very comfortable since he doesn't have to use his wings because Cluj has an airport, he can cover the rest of the trip with a bus and the old castle is filled with classy vibes and lots of hot young women. the line-up made many music-heads wet in an instant2013 was the very first year and the event took the Romanian festival scene by surprise since the line-up made many music-heads wet in an instant. The second edition not just lived up to the expectations, which were...
